At Tomer Devorah we believe that the only way one can truly gain an appreciation of and love for Eretz Yisrael is by taking the time to get to know it. In addition to the classroom time spent in our required Yediat Ha’aretz course, we go on a wide variety of tiyulim throughout the academic year. Aside from the many day trips taken to places of interest – both historical and contemporary – we run several overnight tiyulim spanning the breadth of the Land. From the Golan to Eilat and in between, these trips, together with the professional tour guides who lead them, are geared towards engendering in the students a true ahavat ha’Aretz. Likewise, Shabbatonim in various cities in Israel offer the students an entirely different perspective on life in Eretz Yisrael. Spending Shabbat in an assortment of communities – such as Tzefat or the Old City of Jerusalem – can introduce the students to the unique character of communities that until now they may have only heard of but not experienced.
For the past few years, we have also been privileged to run an optional, exclusive Tomer Devorah trip to Poland, where the students can explore their rich heritage firsthand and connect to the Jewish communities of the past.
